Commenting policy
I love receiving comments on my posts and reviews, and I welcome them with open arms! However, there are some commenting tactics that bug me.
Common sense and etiquette should be all that you need to comment without riling me up. I reserve the right to edit or delete your comment if you violate one of these rules, or if your comment is otherwise deemed offensive, rude, triggering, irrelevant, etc. Most of these rules boil down to one essential point: my commenting section is not your personal self-promotion arena.
- Do not include a self-promoting signature. I know your name and URL already. Plus, it just looks tacky.
- Do not put a URL to a specific post in the URL field. That field is for linking back to your main blog, not to a specific post. Also, doing this will ensure that your comment will go to spam, where I may or may not rescue it.
- Be wary of linking to yourself in your comment. Certainly, there are times when a post/review you have written could be useful to me, but please use tact. If I get the sense that you only commented so you could link me to your shit, I will probably delete your comment.
If you’re a representative from a company/store…
…you have to take extra precautions. If I feel, in any way, that you are trying to promote yourself rather than comment like a normal commenter, I will edit or delete your comment. Please follow this additional rule:
- Do not — I repeat, do not — put your company/store’s name in the “name” field. You are one person, and you have your own name. Use it.
