I’m finally at a point where I can shell out the cash for a monthly porn DVD subscription. THIS IS VERY EXCITING! I’ve been wanting to do this for ages.

It was a bit of an experience figuring out just which service to use. I eliminated WantedList pretty quickly when I found they did not carry any Good Releasing, no Triangle Films, and a scant handful of Burning Angel titles. Plus, it’s expensive — $18/month for two DVDs at a time. XRentDVD was similarly spendy. I narrowed it down to either BushDVD or SugarDVD.

SugarDVD and BushDVD are about even when it comes to movies featuring epic performers such as James Deen, Belladonna, and Kimberly Kane. And they both carry Triangle Films. But then, they diverge. SugarDVD stocks Good Releasing lines such as Heartcore Films (much to my joy!), but BushDVD does not. BushDVD stocks Burning Angel titles, but SugarDVD had a mere five of them. This was a conundrum.

But! I got in contact with someone at SugarDVD, and he explained that he could try to get more Burning Angel for me. Then, he actually followed through (?!). Now there are 15 Burning Angel movies on SugarDVD. I was so sold.

SugarDVD has about a bazillion rental plans, but I went with the $10/month (one DVD at a time) plan for now.

So far, I’m pretty pleased with the service. I was billed by the innocuous name Oddesse, Inc, and the DVDs come in bland, Netflix-style packaging that should not raise any eyebrows. And maybe it’s just me, but it amuses me to see hardcore porn described on little DVD sleeves.

SugarDVD’s website itself is easy to navigate, and not cluttered or sleazy. You can arrange things by release date. You can rate stuff, although I don’t think it recommends anything based on that. Some movies have screenshots. The male talent is not tagged half the time, but I expected that. I only wish there was a better way to monitor favorite studios and performers. There’s a new releases page, but you have to wade through the crap.

Here’s a glimpse at my queue — er, rental lineup. Some of this stuff is so obscure because I used IAFD to find pairings of my favorite performers. For instance, if you ever wanna see Jack Lawrence and Roxy DeVille together, you have to rent Barefoot Confidential #52. Or if you want James Deen and Amber Rayne, you gotta get 2 Young to Fall in Love #3.

Sadly, the titles cannot be arranged via drag-and-drop, but I think I’ll survive.

The point is that I now get porn delivered to my apartment on a regular basis. And I have a porn DVD queue. How awesome is that?

I’m also pretty excited that they support Roku, I don’t have one yet, but was looking into getting one. Looks awesome!

I was a SugarDVD subscriber for a couple of years. It’s a great service. I found that they had very quick turnaround on DVDs and overall a pretty good selection.

The only reason I stopped my service was because my girlfriend wasn’t up to watching porn often enough to make it worthwhile. (And I discovered that I could get plenty of free DVDs from online retailers in exchange for writing reviews.)

If I ever find myself watching more porn than I currently do, though, I’ll definitely consider Sugar again in the future. They really do provide a useful service. I don’t usually want to watch the same porn more than once, so renting definitely makes more sense than buying.

Holy. Shit. I am so on this.

I so did not know there was porn netflix, though I’m not sure why, I mean, they think of everything! Thanks for the heads up :)

They have a category for strap-on porn. Oh my God, I love them already.

Do you know if SugarDVD operates in Canada too?

@sexyamystar: Sadly, no. They only ship to the U.S.

Niiice. I was unaware you could do the dvd thing until now. I recently made my first foray into subscription porn as well, but went with a couple of kink.com’s sites (sexandsubmission.com & publicdisgrace.com). They have the best streaming I’ve ever seen in my life – better than netflix or amazon streaming, etc. I have a connection that is erratic at best and haven’t had a single problem yet. A whole 80 min. movie will buffer in maybe 10 minutes on my crappy network.

I really like the idea of the variety of studios/stars you can get with dvd subscriptions, as well as the ability to get feature films and whatnot as opposed to the loosely rp’d kink vids, but in my present living situation, I CANNOT have porn dvds being delivered via mail, regardless of the packaging. (I rent a basement studio apt. from my ‘rents because it’s all I can afford at the moment, being on disability. They know I have a streaming only netflix account, so I have no idea how I’d explain the dvds. The sex toy packages I can be vague about, as I do 90% of ALL my shopping online, plus, they aren’t unaware of my toy addiction anyway, but I think that in a liberal feminist household like mine, they could possibly/probably see porn as exploitative to women and not get the appeal/allure of it the way the do the toys).

Anyway, it seems both ways of doing the subscription porn deal have their advantages & disadvantages. One day, I hope to be able to personally comment on the pros/cons of BOTH. *grins* For now though, I’ll stick with watching James Deen online, since it’s my only viable option. Thank you for making me aware of the dvd option, though. I was completely in the dark. Now, if only we could fix the budget so I could move up on my waiting list for affordable housing, I’d be in 7th heaven. Le sigh… :)

Nice review! SugarDVD is a great service with a great collection.

Ten dollars a month is not bad. It’s definitely cheap enough for a broke college student like myself to handle.

@Sabrina: Exactly! I appreciate that SugarDVD in particular has a plan that is that cheap, because not all DVD rental services do.

What a fantastic idea (I’ve bought a few clinkers in my day, though I try to find used where I can), though I wish the all-male selection was better. It sounds like a quality operation in general. (Does anybody out there have recommendations for a good rental equivalent for those who are into watching the manlove? Of course, as a gal, I’ve actually had porn orders rejected by companies until I could prove that I ordered ‘em myself…I guess gay-themed practical jokes are rather frequent. Weird.)

Kake: I feel your pain. A PO Box has been helpful for me thus far (I got it in a nearby town I often visit running errands, I’m that terrified of my sweet but fairly old-school Catholic folks), though you might have to be extra-vigilant watching the mail for a week or two in order to intercept the notice that your PO Box is ready. The weird thing is that I’m actually more relaxed getting DVDs (though stashing ‘em is becoming a problem now that I have, uh, a collection), since I worry about people finding stuff on a hard drive. (She said “hard,” heh heh!)
